Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

Re-use is better than recycling. If you have something that still works, but you would like to see it being re-used rather than take it to the recycling depot, consider freecycling it.

FreeCycleGeneve is the Geneva (and surrounding area) freecycling group. You can give things away on this list, and maybe find some things you need for free, all in the interest of re-using things.

It’s a great way to ensure that things are used as much as possible. The group is bilingual, with messages in both French and English.

‘Quiet Sun’ baffling astronomers

The Sun is apparently the dimmest it’s been for over a century – see ‘Quiet Sun’ baffling astronomers. The reduced energy output from the Sun could be offsetting the impact from the greenhouse effect to a certain extent, just like “Global Dimming” did with particles in the atmosphere before the clean air acts.

What worries me, is what happens when the Sun cycles round and warms back up? Do we get much more rapid global warming, as the dimming effect goes away?
