I’m not sure how practical this is, but as a cool toy for silent zero-CO2 emitting watersports on Lac Leman I would say this has got to be fun. Though as a Prius driver, I can say that generally people try to throw themselves in front of totally silent electric vehicles.
First zero-emission jet-ski
Solar power, windmills and heatpumps to reduce CO2
I have just come back from the Bio Market in Ferney-Voltaire, where I met with the nice people from Acfer. Acfer, or Ambarrois Chaud Froid Énergies Renouvelables is a family run company specialising in CO2 reduction technologies, based in Amberieu en Bugey.
They also have an interesting looking water treatment device, which doesn’t need electricity or salt, but isn’t one of these extremely dubious sounding magnetic things.
They will study your needs, and make a proposal including installation.
The one thing I really like is they won’t sell you anything they haven’t tried themselves.
You will need to speak French to do business with this company.
Poweo – green electricity for France
I’ve signed up to change my electricity supplier to Poweo, who’s Poweo Planete offer will supply me with 100% renewable-sourced electricity. The theory says that by the first of July, all my electricity will come from 100% renewable sources. I’ll let you know how it goes…
We’re Halfway to Causing Dangerous Climate Change
According to this article on Wired Magazine, and many other places, we have now burned our way through half of the fossilised carbon that would take global average temperature levels above the danger point. We are predicted to burn the next half within 40 years.
You’ve seen my view. The human race is like a man who has discovered that they are overweight. We have to decide if we are going to keep eating or go on a diet. If we wait things will just get worse. Cutting back CO2 emissions will be harder later. It’s not impossible to reduce CO2 now, but we have to start… all of us.
Translations
As the region around my home is very international, with people from the UN, CERN, and many NGO’s living around here, I decided to make my web site as accessible as possible to many languages. Please forgive me if the translation is not as great as you would like it. I only speak English and French, and the site is mainly written in English, and automatically translated from that.
For comments feel free to write them in whatever language you like. I can use on-line translation tools like anyone else, and do not believe that you should be able to speak English to have a voice.
