The next Café Vert will be held next Monday, the 26th March.  We will do more of an “open forum” style meeting which covers more topics at the same time, so if you have questions, ideas or something you’d like to discuss, this is for you!  Some of the topics planned for this month include resilience, Shale Gas in the Pays de Gex, the Green Film Festival, Transition 2012 and probably more.

Everything starts at 19h45, at the salle du Preau, next to the Mairie in Ferney-Voltaire, behind the line F bus stop.

We will not be in a café but we will have tea and coffee.  If you can bring a cup that will help.

Entry is free as usual, but we will have a hat for a collection as we have to pay for this room.

On resilience:

Resilience is the ability of a material to recover from a shock, insult, or disturbance.

It has more specialized meanings referring to organizations, soil, ecology, energy and more.

After my first year with photovoltaic solar panels on my roof, I’ve supplies 2505 kWh of electricity to the grid.

At a purchase price of  €0.58  per kWh that makes a grand total of  €1452,90 in one year. Not bad, and well on the way to amortize the costs of installation within 7 years.

So far, so good.

The next Green Café will be held this Monday, 26th of September at 19h45

It will not be at the Café du Soleil, after the noise the last few times. We will do other events in the Café du Soleil.

Therefore the format will be a little different. We will not be in a café but we will have tea and coffee. If you can bring a cup that will help.

Entry is free as usual, but we will have a hat as we have to pay for this room.

The Theme is eco-entrepeneurship. In the context of Transition and Economy, how will we work in the future and even today. What skill, what jobs can we do locally and ecologically?
Will we start with a 15 minute film by Majora Carter, then a brainstorming session with post-it notes, then discussion. If you have questions, experiences or ideas to share, they will be most welcome.

We hope to see you there.

Tim Anderson from the SEL du Lac will explain how complentary currency systems work – including other systems than the SEL.

The meeting will take place on Monday 22 August from 18h00 to 20h00 at Ornex, in the small room behind the Mairie d’Ornex.

The more that come, the more questions and the better we’ll understand…!

Finally, if you are not 100% at ease in French you don’t need to worry, as the presentation can easily be bilingual.
