My Composter
Even though we have a small garden, we have found space in it for a composter, into which we put all uncooked vegetable scraps, and, being English, used tea bags. So far, the insects seem to like it inside the composter, but it doesn’t make a nuisance, even though I sit in the garden only [...]

Today, 100w light bulbs are banned
In the start of a rolling phase-out, 100w light bulbs are banned in the EU from today. By 2012, only low-energy light bulbs will be available for sale in the EU. If you haven’t tried them yet, they are a lot better than they used to be, and last for years!

Poweo update (2)
I just received an email from Poweo saying we are now supplied by them. The changeover was completely invisible. Solar power, windmills and heatpumps to reduce CO2
I have just come back from the Bio Market in Ferney-Voltaire, where I met with the nice people from Acfer. Acfer, or Ambarrois Chaud Froid Énergies Renouvelables is a family run company specialising in CO2 reduction technologies, based in Amberieu en Bugey. They also have an interesting looking water treatment device, which doesn’t need electricity [...]

Poweo – green electricity for France
I’ve signed up to change my electricity supplier to Poweo, who’s Poweo Planete offer will supply me with 100% renewable-sourced electricity. The theory says that by the first of July, all my electricity will come from 100% renewable sources. I’ll let you know how it goes…

Reduce, Re-use, Recycle
Re-use is better than recycling. If you have something that still works, but you would like to see it being re-used rather than take it to the recycling depot, consider freecycling it. FreeCycleGeneve is the Geneva (and surrounding area) freecycling group. You can give things away on this list, and maybe find some things you [...]
